Story

I am running the Big Half 2022 in September for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. I've chosen to run for this charity because I can personally attest to the amazing work that they do in caring for the terminally ill and supporting their loved ones.

My mum Nicky Petty stayed at Thorpe Hall several times last year in her final months, where they helped us to get her pain under control so that she could come home to be with us. Ultimately, she spent her last day at the hospice, after the pain proved too difficult to control in a home environment, and my sisters and I are eternally grateful for the care and support the staff at Thorpe Hall gave to not only our mum, but to us as well.

End of life care isn't talked about until you or someone you love needs it, but it is a vital part of healthcare, and charities such as Sue Ryder and hospices such as Thorpe Hall are a major support to families and patients at a really awful time in their lives.

I have set my target to £1000, which is the cost of 48 hours of care at Thorpe Hall for a single patient. Any contribution you can spare would be so gratefully received by myself and Sue Ryder, and hopefully we can help give that support to other families in need.
